Skaha Remote Sensing has recently formed its Agronomy Advisory Council. After two years of development and field testing of our proprietary soil moisture sensors, we are ready to move into the next phase and add agronomy intelligence to our system.
We are happy to have Steve Larocque, owner of Beyond Agronomy, and Jeff Bronsch, the owner of Sunrise Ag, join our team in an advisory function. Both, Steve and Jeff, bring a wealth of knowledge in irrigation and precision agriculture to Skaha. This growth in capacity will allow us to turn Smart Drop into a truly useful root-zone moisture sensing system for centre and linear pivots that will produce actionable irrigation recommendations taking soil texture, vegetation, weather, and other parameters into account.
During the coming growing season, Skaha will be testing Smart Drop on several irrigated fields in North America. With our sensors mounted directly on centre pivots, we will be able to map the root-zone moisture conditions with high resolution across the entire crop field. This data will be analyzed and processed to provide timely irrigation recommendations to the growers.
